Leadership in Action

Learn to act boldly in the face of real-world challenges and prepare to bring about tangible progress on issues affecting your organization.

Our Leadership in Action course takes an immersive, experiential approach to leadership. Simulate common workplace scenarios alongside your peers with hands-on exercises informed by cutting-edge research. Test your ideas and gain the skills you need to better anticipate daily workplace challenges and respond appropriately. This course is essential for any professional looking to drive positive change within their organization.

Agenda and course description

This seminar serves individuals at all career stages, as well as rising managers who want to improve their ability to make real change happen in their organizations.

While the course helps people in a wide variety of organizations, functional areas and leadership experiences, its’ particularly helpful to:

• Individuals who feel thwarted in the attempt to lead their organization through change;
• Teams wrestling with implementing or accelerating change initiatives;
• People who seek to enhance their own capacities for exercising leadership.

For JHU benefits eligible faculty and staff members only:
If you are a full-time, benefits-eligible faculty or staff member who has been employed by JHU for at least 120 days, and continue in a full-time position while enrolled in courses, you are eligible to receive tuition remission.

This benefit covers only noncredit courses offered through a Continuing Education Unit of one of JHU’s academic divisions, the Berman Institute, Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, Sheridan Libraries, or Executive Programs offered through the Carey Business School. This plan is available to full-time faculty, staff, and bargaining unit members only. Retirees are not eligible for this benefit. You receive 100% remission if your department certifies the course benefits your professional development and your department is willing to pay if you do not attend the course or if you cancel with less than one week’s notice. The one-week cancellation notice is waived only for emergencies with written documentation.

There is an annual limit of 2 classes per calendar year for noncredit professional development courses taken at JHU (effective 2023).
